Hey my lovies, let me tell you something. I do not understand why people are still on Twitter. Or X. Or whatever Elon Musk is calling his digital graveyard this week. That platform is toxic. Rotten from the inside out. And if you are still scrolling there, you are either addicted to rage or you have not been paying attention.
The Rage Bait Factory
Posts are not conversations anymore. They are traps. Designed to make you angry. Designed to make you click. Designed to make you react so the algorithm can serve you more poison. Every hot take is calculated. Every outrage thread is monetised. Your anger is not organic. It is harvested.
And South Africans? We are being farmed like crops. Our pain, our politics, our identity, all of it reduced to engagement metrics for people who do not live here, who do not care here, who profit from our division.
The Blackface 2.0 Scam
Here is the new norm that makes my blood boil. Non-Black people creating accounts with Black names and Black profile pictures. Speaking on issues that actual Black South Africans would speak on. Pushing opinions that do not reflect our reality. Manufacturing consent one fake avatar at a time.
Who are these people? Where do they come from? Why does X not stop them? Because X does not want to stop them. They drive engagement. They stir conflict. They turn our genuine struggles into content for trolls and agendas. It is digital blackface. It is deception. It is violence dressed up as discourse.
And when real Black South Africans call it out? When we speak truth to this manufactured nonsense? Blocked. Silenced. Disappeared. Because on X, authenticity is the enemy and performance is the product.
The Capitalist Protection Racket
Everything pro-capitalist stays up. Thrives. Gets boosted. Gets paid. The moment you speak against the system, the moment you question the billionaire class, the moment you challenge the machinery that grinds people into poverty, your account gets restricted. Your reach dies. Your voice gets buried under a mountain of blue-check propaganda.
This is not accidental. This is structural. X under Musk is not a social network. It is a billionaire’s loudspeaker. A vehicle for market manipulation, political influence, and the relentless promotion of an economic system that requires your exploitation to function. The only agenda is the capitalist agenda. The only speech that survives is speech that serves power.
The Violence Is the Point
X went from informative to violent. Not metaphorically violent. Actually violent. The content is brutal. Graphic. Designed to shock and desensitise. It went from being one of the most useful platforms on earth to another MySpace. No, worse. A violent version of Tumblr. A gladiator pit where ordinary people are thrown to the algorithms while billionaires bet on the outcomes.
It serves no purpose anymore. None. Not for community. Not for news. Not for organising. Not for connection. It exists to agitate. To extract. To destroy. And we are the fuel.
TikTok Is Not Perfect But At Least It Is Human
If I were you, I would close my X account today. Not tomorrow. Today. And I would go to TikTok. Yes, TikTok has its own problems. Data concerns. Algorithmic manipulation. No platform is innocent.
But mature conversations happen there. Real faces. Real voices. Real context. It is harder to fake a persona in video. Harder to maintain a digital blackface scam when you have to show your actual self. The rage baiting exists but it does not dominate. The format rewards creativity over cruelty. Authenticity over agenda.
At least on TikTok, you can breathe.
The Truth About Leaving
Some will say I am overreacting. That every platform has issues. That X still has value. They are wrong. X is not flawed. X is corrupted. Fundamentally. Structurally. Intentionally. It was built to connect people. It is now optimised to break them. For profit. For power. For the amusement of a man who bought a toy and decided to use it as a weapon.
MySpace died because it stopped serving users. X is dying because it actively harms them. The difference is speed. Musk accelerated the decay. Turned a slow decline into a rapid rot. And we are all expected to sit in the stench and call it discourse.
I refuse.
To the Ones Still Scrolling:
Ask yourself what you are getting from X. Real connection? Useful information? Community support? Or just a constant drip of anxiety, anger, and alienation? If it is the latter, you are not using the platform. The platform is using you.
Close the account. Delete the app. Reclaim your attention. Reclaim your peace. Reclaim your right to exist online without being rage-farmed by billionaires and their bot armies.
The internet is bigger than X. Your voice is bigger than X. And your sanity is worth more than any algorithm can pay.
Stay safe, my lovies. Stay off X. And keep your eyes open for who profits from your pain.
